Adventure scores are back..!
by a soundtrack collector (June 9, 2001)
A full orchestral and choral score with a very adventure and action sound in the grand tradition of Hans Zimmer's GLADIATOR.
Gladiator has a little brother named Attila!
by Tim T. (June 9, 2001)
When I learned Nick Gleenie-Smith would be scoring Attila, the first thing I thought was this is going to sound so much like Hans Zimmer's Gladiator!
And I was right to some degree. They do share simular parts in the battle cues, but Gleenie-Smith's score is a tad bit smaller in scope. I think this is because Nick does not mix in that many electronics over the orchestra like Zimmer did so its not as powerful sounding, and it has more contemporary parts. After all it was only a low budget TV movie.
However we still get a great heroic main and love theme, as well as alot of sub themes, brassy & pounding action music, large choral and solo female volcal bits as well a some exotic instrumentation. Everything a movie about Rome, Kings, and Warriors should have!
