Two L.P's From This Hardboiled Classic Proves That It's All Good!
by a soundtrack collector
(April 4, 2006)
Based on the true story of the life and gas chamber execution at San Quentin of Barbara Graham the story and film was big news in it's day!
The two recordings of original music created for the film by Johnny Mandel are examples of the dramatic intensity intended by the production and well worth the time of anyone interested in top drawer treasures!
The first features the original background score while the second features Jazz highlights of source music and nightclub performances with Art Farmer, Gerry Mulligan, Shelly Manne and several other high ranking members of west coast cool late 50's style!
Originally released on United Artist records these two back to back offerings go hand in hand and are true classics in the annals of audio wonders! *****
