Haunting
by a soundtrack collector (March 3, 2006)
Though essentially a collection of Depression era standards like "Easy Come, Easy Go" and "The best Things In Life Are Free" (sweetly sung by Bonnie Bedelia), it is the arrangements that capture the imagination.
The chipper "California Here I Come" takes on a macabre quailty when slowed down and given the calliope treatment. Much recommended and a great companion piece to the "The Day of the Locust" soundtrack.
