A Special Moment In The World Of Audio Horror!
by a soundtrack collector (April 8, 2006)

Beautiful adaptation by Laurie Johnson of the Bernard Herrmann score from the Larry Cohen film "It's Alive!" dealing with the birth of a violently mutated newborn baby!

Follow up offers the further adventures of murderous tots with the birth of several more caused by the effects of environmental contaminants!

The original film was produced in 1974 shortly after the composers work on Brian DePalma's "Sisters". The sequel (from which the recording "It's Alive 2" is taken) came two years after the composers death in 1976.

The score for the sequel is an adaptation with additional original music by Herrmann's close friend Laurie Johnson.

Sounds perfectly suited to the horrific and at times humorous adventures of every parents worst nightmare materialized by way of silver screen! Organ and electronics utilized to great effect by one of the most genuine and unique of composers!

The original L.P. release from Starlog records includes a one sheet insert announcing that "Herrmann Lives Again!" along with a 7 inch 33 1/3 rpm sampler offering exerpts from three of the labels score recordings (Rocketship XM/Fantastic Film Music Of Albert Glasser/It's Alive 2)! *****
