Melodies for nice holidays
by Dorian (April 9, 2004)
Les Sous-doués En Vacances is a typical Cosma's comedy score of 1980s. It begins with the song sung by Guy Marchand, "Destinée". Very nice song and also quite long, when considering that the next song from the film on the CD, "Les Sous-Doués en vacances", is basically the same, only missing the vocals. Then, there is a rap piece, "Le Rap des Sous-Doués", which is what I find as maybe Cosma's worst track ever. It is unlistenable. Fortunately, the five remaining tracks are again very nice, with easy floating mood of fresh holidays. I particularly like "Airport quiproquo", which is very nice and typically Cosma-like variation of the main theme, and "Sur la pointe des pieds", where the guitar/bass riffs are alternated with lovely harmonica. The last track, "Saint-Trop reggae", serves as very good closing song.
So, again, I must have just a small complaint about the imperfection of the CD issue, which does not contain all the tracks from the original LP. Maybe it would be good to put on the CD the dateless tracks instead of that hopeless rap. Still, Les Sous-doués are a must for any Cosma fan.
