Superb, best soundtrack ever!! by Michael Longstreet (December 5, 2006)
Howard Shore's masterpiece is just that, a masterpiece. The music to the first film in the trilogy sets the stage for the rest of the story's long journey. And nothing can say it more than "The Complete Recordings." It's hard to listen to the music from 'Fellowship of the Ring' anymore without listening to the expanded 3-disc set that was released in 2005. This is by far the best soundtrack that I ever heard, and by far my favorite of all time. Now when I say that, I mean LOTR as a whole. The music from Fellowship is just as good as the music from The Two Towers and The Return of the King. Howard Shore delivers on every possible level. With compelling tracks like "The Passing of the Elves" to such tension builders as "Saruman the White," Shore delves deep into our emotions as we listen to the music from the first epic film. Probably my favorite track is "Khazad-dum" on the 3-disc set, but there are other great tracks here that weren't included in the original single disc release in 2001. With over three hours of music, it's hard not to find so much good stuff here.
