Film music for those looking for more... by Mark Wallace (November 17, 2002)
Avoiding bombast, this is serious music for those who want more than music that marks time. Well played by the Budapest Symphony, Petit uses the orchestra to great effect. His main theme is extremely well realized, operatic, but immediately accessible, evoking a feeling of familiarity and intimacy which immediately catches the listener's attention. A sombre score, it nonetheless is unmistakably a score centered around a child, reflecting a child’s optimism and carefree spirit. A first rate production, with excellent sound.
