Amazing
by a soundtrack collector (October 22, 2004)
Well, in the first place I never wanted to see the movie... When I did, the first thing I fell in love with was the music, the way it filled me with emotions.... joy first and then without even trying it brought me down to a sad level... all corresponding with the movie. I eventually bought the soundtrack and it was probably the best spent $20 of my life. I listen to the whole cd at a time about everyday... usually when I walk my dog. The music has its great ups and downs, there are no tracks that are too sharp and un welcoming... I love listening to it all.

Fairy tale movie, and score, brought to life quite properly
by
Steve Dibb (February 28, 2004)
Before I even saw this film, I wasn't quite skeptical as I was unsure. The score on the trailers alone was pretty haunting and inviting, and eventually when I saw the movie, I was blown away at how good it was. Hands down one of the best movies I've ever seen.

The score is done amazingly well, too. I bought it expecting to get another "adventure story" type score where you really can't sit down and relax to the music, but again I was wrong.

The music is never too jaded to make you feel tense or uncomfortable, but it is certainly spirited enough to get you into the feeling of action and adventure that's going on. The music seems to dance lightly in most parts giving it a really mystical, fairy tale feel. It certainly seems to have a life all its own, and that's what makes this score so original and great.
