Exotic and mysterious Barry's score
by
Damian So³tysik (November 7, 2005)
Altought Ruby Cairo is not a masterpiece it shows how excellent things Barry can do with one terrific melody. This is very mysterious and lyrical theme performed by solo guitar, synthesized harpsichord and strings. Ruby Cairo is almost monothematic score but I can listen it every day, every night and it'll never get bored. Pieces like `Come We Must Hurry` and delicious `Carnival Chase` are perfect examples that in 1990's JB still could compose exciting and colorful suspense-action music. I also recommend `Pyramid of Cheops`- epic, attractive composition for horns, strings and synthesized choir. Ruby Cairo is rather overlooked score which deserves more. Recommended not only for Barry fans. What a shame that producers had thrown out 65% of Barry's music from movie and replaced it by boring ethnic cues which shows slow-witted audience where the plot of film takes place.
