Touch of Evil - Part 2
by
filmfactsman (March 29, 2006)
Once upon a time, the legendary director Blake Edwards took the legendary composer Henry Mancini on a musical ride that seemed to go nowhere but up: "Peter Gunn", "Breakfast at Tiffany's", "The Pink Panther", "Days of Wine and Roses", "The Great Race", "Experiment in Terror" and much more. Mancini's "Touch of Evil" was subtle, flavored with jazz brass, and distinctly American. "Experiment in Terror" follows the same style. The music reflects all the dramatic moods of the film: it is tense, suspenseful, thrilling and '60s with a Twist! All-in-all, the score displays a remarkable variety of music and mood, and, as always with Mancini, is a memorable listening experience and a tribute to the Swinging Sixties.
