Spelling mistakes and volume number error on the Intrada release?

Hi there, hope someone can clear this up. I got a copy of the ltd. ed. from a seller on amazon.co.uk known as movie music mayhem.

My question is this. on the CD the label says it's volume 145, when the release is clearly 140. Also, on the inside of the last page, the word reissue is misspelled "reisssue". Now, alarm bells are going off in my head, have a been the victim of a very elaborate fake or are these just genuine mistakes with the release?

Help please!

I think you may well have been duped big time. The last Intrada release was 143, The Deep by John Barry, and it was a single volume issue. This, if my powers of deduction are corrrect, means that 144 and possible 145 will be the next batch of Intrada releases.

Out of curiosity, how much did you pay for it?

Well, I paid about £26.00 for it, a bit steep but only seven pounds more than I would have.

What is interresting is that if this indeed a fake, it has the same flaw that is being reported in Dougs Corner on the official Intrada website. I have to say though, I've checked the disc over and over, and I have to say I think that it is genuine. If it is not, it really is THE most best fake soundtrack CD I have ever seen.

I've compared it with other Indrada special collection discs I have, as well as the Rocky IV score CD, which whilst not a Intrada Special Collection disc, it IS manufactured by Sony special custom markets. The markings and barcodes on the underside of each disc are in line with each other as being from a legit source. Well, maybe!

Unless the disc looks like a CD-R, I would not see those two typos as strong indicators of a bootleg. If someone had really bootlegged the CD, then I would NOT think that he would have manually retyped all the text by himself - instead he would have scanned everything (and thus copied all mistakes in the original).

Well, I guess someone who has the same CD will soon chime in and confirm/deny that his copy has the same typos.

Regards,

Urs

"Moviemusicmayham" (sic) has been selling fake home-made CD-R copies of soundtracks for a long time. He has been booted off eBay and now tries to sell his stuff on Amazon.co.uk marketplace.

Avoid.

Never dealt with this seller, but I guess his official stuff (from Intrada, Varese etc.) may be real and legit. But I wouldn't support him, because he has also a lot of bootlegs for sale. And besides that, his legit soundtracks (if they are legit) are overpriced.

And those mistakes you mentioned are on all SpaceCamp copies.

People, thank you so, so much for all your responses, you've all been really helpful!

My conclusion: it is indeed a legit CD, bought from one of the online stores and sold at a jacked up price to make money. As some of you have said, he does indeed have a laughable amount of obvious fakes/bootlegs/ "promo" CD's for sale. I won't be going back anytime soon.

I just really, really wanted this CD and didn't want to miss out. I just hope Intrada will provide me with a repressed disc to amend the audio blip on track 12!

I ordered my copies directly from Intrada and you are right: The volumenumber on the CD itself is Vol. 145. Also the word "reissue" is misspelled. I think your copy is genuine.
