Whats the UPC?

I've just bought a copy of the soundtrack on CD from a seller at Amazon.com. What concerns me is that there is NO UPC/UPN bar code on the back. The CD itself has the catalog number pressed onto the disc, and for the most part looks authentic. I just hope I haven't bought a dud! It was sealed too! If this CD is indeed from 1987, was it not standard practice to put a UPC/UPN code on at these times?

Many early Varese titles did not have UPCs. I had a collector once pay me to find them several Varese titles without a UPC. Most of these are the first releases/pressings of titles. There are CDs of HALLOWEEN and HALLOWEEN II that have UPCs and those that do not. This goes back to the days when Varese CDs came in those "clear plastic" long boxes and many of those CDs had the foam donut in them (which get discussed from time to time). Remember how the CD and jewel box were in the lower portion of the long box and the artwork was up in the top portion. I actually tore the cover art to a CD once in one of those boxes. Then they went to the cardboard long boxes with the CD and artwork were in the top portion.

Right! I see! Jeez, that puts my mind at rest! Like I said, this CD arrived 100% unaffected and sealed, in a standard jewel case with the usual black/grey inlay tray etc.

Thanks a lot! I really thought I'd been had!
