He bought 2 DVD Box sets off me on ebay14/5. Paid via PayPal and I sent them on to him on the 15/5. On the 16/5 PayPal put his fund on hold. To late I had already sent the goods. Them PayPal refund this Sh#t on the 31/5.
Help I've email him on crew.style@hairdresser.net and he his still using 2 Old Hall Place in Doncaster as his address and calling himself Ryan Herring.

I bought two DVD boxes sets off him via ebay two weeks ago.

I recieved two blank dvdrws in boxes which were both blank.

I wished I had done a google search first as this page was the first one to pop up.

So I am £20 out of pocket.

Ebay don't want to know as it's below the £15 per item lower limit charge.

Unfortunately I too was ripped off by the infamous R.Herring from the same (FAKE) address. I wish I hadn't tried buying any box sets from him/her because all you end up with is a blank disc. This is certainly a red herring alright! I've contacted the police, F.A.C.T, eBay, PayPal, Vero and I will carry on until justice is done.

Beware everyone, i'm a 26 year old single mother of 4 and I cannot afford to be made a joke of.

I suspect I have also been ripped off by R Herring.

Purchased 2 dvd boxsets for £20 3 weeks ago and am still waiting for them. All emails go unanswered.

He used the username "wicked.prayer" on this occasion, but the address was the same (R.Herring, 2 Old Hall Place, Bentley, Yorkshire dn5 0dp).

Other contact information on communication from ebay was Mike Braze, Stoke, Staffordshire ST104ET. I was given the phone number 01341 834521, but it is not recognised (what a surprise!). I contacted ebay, but all they told me to do was ring him, very helpful.

I've emailed him on wicked.prayer@yahoo.com but he has not responded to any emails. Have now contacted ebay again, but am not holding out much hope!

Does anyone have any other contact information for him? If so let me know (k8_24@yahoo.com).

Why does ebay continue to allow him to set up accounts with this postal address when he has ripped off so many of their customers?! I have now closed my ebay account due to this scam; if ebay can continue to let this happen for over 2 years, then I have absolutely no faith in their security.

I bought an item off Mr P Herring, on eBay, it was the 'ROLLER COASTER TYCOON 3 PC game' and it did not work & he didn't even have the decency to reply. T**T!!! All he could say was 'Game was fine.Not my fault that your pc aint up to spec UPGRADE.No email from u'. Nice hey!! I think that he is probably the same person as R Herring as my friend was ripped off by him, she purchased a DVD boxset from R(ed) Herring at 2 Old Hall Place, Bentley DN5 0DP and never recieved a reply from him or the DVD.

I think that people should google the person's name who they want to buy from before they purchase anything. I won't use eBay again and I'm sure my friend won't as she cannot afford to be £40 short.

Be careful before purchasing any item from 2 Old Hall Place, Bentley, Yorkshire DN5 0DP and i will warn any others.

This person has to be stopped, but what can we do! He's been operating for over 2 years!!

After numerous attempts to contact R Herring by email and after receiving absolutely no help from ebay (they couldnt have been more useless), I wrote him a letter. I told him that I was up in Rotherham on business in a few weeks and I would call to his address in Doncaster to pick up my dvds, and I would call the police if this was not resolved. I had no intention of calling to his address, I don't go anywhere on business!

A few days later I received a cheque refund and a letter from Mr Herring! Apparently his dad opened my letter and told him he had to give me my money back. He claimed to have sent the dvds on 17th July (a blatant lie, as my cheque payment didnt even clear til 21st July), and apparently has had a lot of items go missing in the post - yeah right, I bet the dvds never existed in the first place! Judging from his writing I would say he is about 12 years old!

Hopefully now that his dad knows what a robbing little f**ker he is, this scamming will stop. The cheque was from A Herring, I am assuming this is his dad if anyone would like to write to him for a refund!

Ebay were absolutely useless when I contacted them; first they told me to telephone him (which is difficult when he has given them a false number), then they told me that I hadnt even won the item in question, then they told me it wasnt their problem or fault and that I should contact the police. I have now closed my Ebay account for fear of becoming victim to another one of these scams. I do not understand how they can allow someone to continue to rip off so many of their customers, and not give a damn about it!

F**rs like this, or re-animate, who stealed THOUSANDs of people are happy customers from ebay, and ebay is happy to receive them.
Ebay WILL NEVER help customers unless they use PAYPAL, a company who is related to ebay (strange they want you to use it, right?).
But guess what!!...Even paypal is not reliable.
I sold a cd to a German idiot, and he claims never received the cd.So paypal gave him the money back.
Guess what....I contacted the Deutsche Post, and they told me the CD was delivered to that address.
Guess what paypal did......nothing!!!They didnt returned me the payment, never contacted the Deutsche Post Office, EVEN WHEN I CALL THEM BY PHONE TO EXPLAIN MY PROBLEM.

Do you know how many time did Paypal took to resolve they will not give me my money back??.....


A WHOLE YEAR!!!!!!!

Contact Doncaster CID (Police), they have much info on him that I gave them following his recent Ebay scam. I visited his house and following that I received a full refund. If the police don't help then I would go and break his legs. He needs to be stopped. He is lucky I got a refund. He drives a nice sports car out of your money.

The suspect has used a large number of Ebay accounts to advertise goods for sale and has done so for a number of years. Through the course of the investiagtion i have identified a number of these accounts and following contact with Ebay I have been provided with auctions that the suspect has listed and the contact details of the winning bidder in each auction.

The enquiry is in depth and is taking a considerable time to process, hence the delay in making any contact with you.

My reason for this email is to identify persons who can confirm if goods were received or not. I know its along time ago now but i would be grateful if you could explore your records and memories and clarify the points raised below.

You have all been identified as making a winning bid in an auction in April 2007 against an Ebay Member Account of "sm*n*ms" who at that time was mainly selling games console games for X-Box, PS3, Nintendo DS etc.

Below is a short list of information I would require initially before taking further action :
1. What item did you purchase, how much money did you part with and did you receive any goods?
2. How did you pay ie. Paypal, Bank Transfer or Cheque ?
3. Did you make any attempt to get your money back from the seller ?
4. Did you email the seller and if so have you saved or retained a copy of the mail ?

I accept that some of the amounts are low value and suspect that is the reason he has got away with the deceptions for so long as victims do not make official complaints. I am aware that there were 255 complaints were made to Ebay against this seller and although i cant promise your money back i need the information requested to pursue a case against the suspect.Please initially reply by email and possibly a contact number would be helpful.

Your help in this matter is very much appreciated and I look forward to your replies.

There are approximately 780 recipients of this email and i'll apologise now for the inpersonal approach but to maintain 1 to 1 contact is not viable as i have a further 12 Ebay accounts linked to HERRING of a similar size in complainants to contact and invetsigate.

Some of you have shown concerns to the validity of the email and after speaking on the phone with some, i hope this has eleviated any fears. For any persons who hav'nt replied yet because of concerns, please phone 0114 202020 Ext. 5679 or logon to South Yorkshire Police Website and compare email addresses shown to that of mine.

The more replies i can get the greater the chance of conviction for this individual who i believe has possibly profited about £50,000 over the last 3 years.

I am currently in the process of nailing someone for defrauding me via the online auction site eBay.

A few google results shows that this user frequently signs up for accounts on eBay recieves quite a lot of positive feedback (Anyone whose EVER told you "always check they have lots of feedback" is talking bollocks.. even the fraudsters end up with a good feedback rating!) and then after receiving the payments fails to deliver.

Thankfully I didn't lose a copius amount of money as others have done. But I will be reporting this to my local police station as well as currently chasing it up with Consumer Direct and Trading Standards.

The user also uses BTInternet and so I will be presenting all information to my local police station presumably in the hope of getting the national high tech crime unit involved.

Firstly, Thankyou all for your responses. Once again, I'll apologise for not contacting you personally but owing to the scale of the fraud it has just not been feasible and therefore the most practical way of contact is the completion of a blanket email to everyone.

On the 20th May 2009, the suspect in this case Ryan HERRING was charged with 6 specimen charges of "Fraud by False Representation" and wishes to take another 408 offences into consideration. His first court appearance will be on Friday 29th May 2009 at Doncaster Magistrates Court.

Basically, Mr HERRING has made full admissions to his fraud activities over the last 2 years and has created a number of Ebay Accounts resulting in the advertising of 1000's of items and the subsequent sales where you've become victims. In view of his admissions the Crown Prosecution Service decided to charge initially with 6 specimen charges that cover the full 2 year period and too allow other offences to be taken into consideration. Based on the replies I received via email from yourselves I have completed a schedule to include the 408 similar offences to be taken into consideration.

I have spoken to the complainants in relation to the 6 charges and so if you havn't received a telephone call from me in the last 2 days, assume that your complaint is one of the 408 other offences.

I hope I have explained the procedures involved and not drifted into "police" jargon ! If you have any questions or concerns please email me.

One concern you may have is "will you need to attend Court". Given that Mr HERRING has admitted his crimes it is very unlikely that any trial will take place and therefore you will not be required to attend Court.
