Best & worst GOBLIN soundtrack

Hello everybody!

These days I've been listening to the GOBLIN soundtracks. I know there are many people that love that music, and now I would like to know the preferences of GOBLIN's fans. So let me know the scores you consider to be the best and worst in GOBLIN's filmography (please, consider also the only LIBRA soundtrack and Emerson and Pignatelli's LA CHIESA as part of GOBLIN's work).

Thank you so much.

Angel

Ciao Angel,

I like their unique style and all their music with no worst coming to mind at the moment but two definite favorites which I really like and of course are considered classic Goblin scores are "Suspiria" & "Profondo Rosso" aka "Deep Red".

I agree: SUSPIRIA and PROFONDO ROSSO are their best and most effective scores. I also like DAWN OF THE DEAD (Zombie).

On the other hand, among their horror & fantasy soundtracks, I think CONTAMINATION is the less interesting.

Hi Angel,

I've been a Goblin fan since 1983 and am still regularily listening to their works. I have also integrated Goblin's non-soundtrack works in my list. Please note that I love ALL of the top titles, so there's no specific order, although i consider CONTAMINATION to be one of the most accomplished works (even though Simonetti and Morante were not in Goblin anymore at that time):

Top:

1. Contamination
2. Zombi
3. Suspiria
4. Phenomena
5. Profondo Rosso
6. Buio Omega
7. Tenebre

"Worst":

1. Volo
2. Il Fantastico Viaggo Del Bagarozzo Mark
3. Squadra Antigangsters
4. Amo Non Amo

I also love all Fabio Frizzi scores that incorporate one or more Goblin members ("L'Aldila", "Paura nella citta de morti viventi" etc.). And there are much much more great works by Goblin - If i'd go in-depth, this would be a huge list. Hm, must stop now :-)

Best,
Burnie

What about "Solamente Nero"?... Stelvio Cipriani, Goblin

I would love to get a hold of that soundtrack!

Hm,

"Solamente Nero", as well as "Un ombra nell' ombra" by Stelvio Cipriani and performed by Goblin are both scores that have great, great cues, but as a whole (for me) don't have the "true" Goblin feel to it. I personally prefer Ombra to Solamente. Solamente has too many 30 second or 1 minute cues on it that endlessly repeat themes more profoundly developed in the longer cues.

Best,
Burnie
