Ennio Morricone in the GDM CD Club
30-Oct-2006 - GDM Music has released in their CD Club two classic scores by Maestro Ennio Morricone. The first one is the complete original motion picture score for Il Gatto A Nove Code, directed by the Master of Thriller Dario Argento in 1970 and starring James Franciscus, Karl Malden, Catherine Spaak, Aldo Reggiani. In 1970 General Music has released a 45 rpm single, then followed in the '90s by its first release on compact disc. This special edition contains about ten minutes of new material, some rare tracks like the original single version of 'Placcaggio', and an interesting interview with Dario Argento.
The second one is the complete score for Allonsanfan, realized by the Taviani brothers in 1974 and starring Marcello Mastroianni, Mimsy Farmer, Lea Massari and Laura Betti. In 1978 (four years after the movie's theatrical release) an LP was released by RCA in its Linea Tre series that contained on one side only six tracks of Allonsanfan while on the B side an other score was featured, Padre Padrone by Egisto Macchi. This new expanded edition contains 15 tracks of which 9 tracks are previously unreleased. The stereo master tapes, that recently were discovered, were digitally restored under the supervision of Maestro Morricone himself.
