The fantastic books of Mediane Libri
26-Nov-2007 -
Mediane Libri in Italy has released four new books with a CD in their fantastic series of famous Italian composers, directors, actrices and actors. After Morricone Awards and Attori A Mano Armata, now composer Armando Trovajoli, directors Dario Argento and Bernardo Bertolucci and actor Tomas Milian have their own book with CD. And fantastic books they are..!  Each one with over 130 pages, filled with photo's, movie posters and movie stills, covers of LP's and EPs, and last but not least a compilation CD with music from a lot of Italian movies, of which a number of the tracks were never released. A pleasure for the eye and the ear..! Responsible for the research of these projects and the music selection is Marco D'Ubaldo with his staff at Cinedelic Records.

Armando Trovajoli.
The first book is about Armando Trovajoli, one of the most eclectic musicians ever. His music unfolds a huge range of creativity. He made over three-hundred movie soundtracks and worked with top-notch names: De Sica, Monicelli, Scola, Magni, Risi, Pietrangeli, Vicario, Lattuada, etc.

In this book are several articles about the Maestro, and interviews with Ettore Scola, Luigi Magni, and Dino Risi, to name a few. Then page after page filled with movie posters and stills, covers of LPs and EPs and more. And last but not least a compilation CD with music from a.o. La ciociara, Ieri, oggi, domani, Matrimonio all'italiana, Profumo di donna, In nome del papa re, Riso Amaro, I lunghi giorni della vendetta etc.

Bernardo Bertolucci.
This is an official tribute to the entire filmmaking history of this one-of-a-kind artist, Bernardo Bertolucci. He notoriety peaked in 1972 with the controversial and “scandalous” “Ultimo Tango a Parigi” (Last Tango in Paris), starring Marlon Brando and Maria Schneider, and four years later with the epic film “Novecento” (1900).
In 1987, Bertolucci was able to repeat the enormous success with his second epic scope “L'Ultimo Imperatore” (The Last Emperor), winning nine Academy Awards...

Filmography, posters and rare pictures in chronological order make of this book a full-blown compendium of the director's career. Included is a compilation CD with music from world famous composers like Ennio Morricone, John Williams, George Delerue, Piero Piccioni etc.

Dario Argento.
Definitely one of the best known Italian directors on an international level is Dario Argento. His groundbreaking production has become a cornerstone redefinition of the horror-thriller genre through his personal epic style... by many emulated.

This book is a tribute to his astounding career. It contains dazzling rare on-set pics, original movie posters and an exclusive interview with Argento on his collaboration with maestro Ennio Morricone.
Along with the book comes a CD-compilation with music by Ennio Morricone, Goblin, Keith Emerson and Pino Donaggio.

Tomas Milian.
This is a book about an actor,Tomas Milian, but not just an actor. Between 1962 and 1985 Tomas Milian interpreted over 25 cop movies playing a variety of roles (the Hunchback, the Cop, the Bandit, the Rat ) thanks to his chameleonic upbringing and his studies at the famous Actors Studio in New York.

A Cuban born able to perfectly blend into 'Italianity' to the point that his characters have turned to mythical figures for entire generations.
The book contains the whole filmography, amazing rare pictures and original posters.
On the compilation cd: all movie soundtracks plus some previously unreleased material from composers like Stelvio Cipriani, Goblin, Alberto Griso, Riz Ortolani, Guido & Maurizio de Angelis, Franco Micalizzi and many more.
