Nominees World Soundtrack Discovery Award announced!

The World Soundtrack Academy releases the list of nominees for the World Soundtrack
Discovery 2008. The name of the winner will be announced on
Saturday, October 18 on the closing evening of the Ghent International Film Festival.
 
Every year the advisory board of the World Soundtrack Academy chooses a
‘Discovery of the Year’ to celebrate emerging film composing talent.
Famous composers as Craig Armstrong, Michael Giacchino and Gustavo Santaolalla
were discovered by the board.

 
 
The nominees for 2008 are

• Tuur Florizoone for 'Moscow, Belgium'
• Mark Kilian for 'Before the Rains'
• Marc Streitenfeld for 'American Gangster'
• Velasquez Fernando for 'El Orfanato' (aka The Orphanage)
• Benjamin Wallfisch for 'The Escapist'
 
The 8th edition of the World Soundtrack Awards on 18th October 2008 promises once
again to be an event for film music lovers. World-class film music composers will come
to Ghent for the presentation of the World Soundtrack Awards Ceremony.
The concert will offer a stage to newcomers Tuur Florizoone and WSA Discoveries 2007
Daniel Tarrab & Andres Goldstein.
The Brussels Philharmonic (Flemish Radio Orchestra) conducted by Dirk Brossé will also
bring music by Dario Marianelli and Angelo Badalamenti, the special guests of the evening.
