Zatoichi - The Best Cuts (1967-1973)
14-Sep-2009 - La-La Land Records has released the compilation album Zatoichi - The Best Cuts (1967-1973). On this CD the original soundtrack music from Toho’s legendary “blind swordsman” series of the Zatoichi feature films. The famous Godzilla composer Akira Ifukube, along with Shigeru Ikeno, Isao Tomita and Kunihiko Murai, provide the influential music on Zatoichi - The Best Cuts (1967-1973): Limited Edition, a compilation of dynamic original recordings from the Zatoichi films released between 1967-1973. Among them are Zatoichi the Outlaw (1967) with music by Sei Ikeno,  Zatoichi Meets Yojimbo (1970) with music by the Master himself, Akira Ifukube, Zatoichi Goes to the Fire Festival (1970), music by Isao Tomita and Zatoichi at Large (1972) with music by Kunihiko Murai. This compilation was assembled from remastered elements from the Toho Studios’ vaults. In-depth liner notes by Randall Larson take you behind the scenes of The Blind Swordsman and his musical legacy. This is a limited edition of 1500 copies.
