New from La-La Land Records
18-Jan-2011 - Three new releases from La-La Land Records. the first one is The Young Riders. Set just before the American Civil War, this series presented a highly fictionalized account of the heyday of the Pony Express. Its focus was a group of young Express riders based at the waystation in Sweetwater, Kansas. Running the station was ex-Texas Ranger and all-around eccentric Teaspoon Hunter. This Emmy Award winning series features some of John Debney's most captivating work for the small screen. Featured on this volume of music are the episodes: The Kid (aka The Pilot), The Gunfighter, and the Emmy Award winning episode for best score, Kansas. This is a limited edition of 1200 copies.

The second one is Solaris. It's the story of Dr. Gibarian, part of a team at a space station studying Solaris, who makes an urgent and self-described bizarre video request to his friend, civilian psychiatrist Dr. Chris Kelvin, to come to the station to deal with an unspecified phenomenon aboard, that phenomenon with which Chris' experience and background may be able to explain and solve. The music is by Cliff Martinez. This re-issue (not expanded) has a 16 page booklet designed by Jim Titus. Mike Matessino went back and took out the digital imperfections (very minor) that were inherent in the original release.

And the third one has never been released before. It's Rat Patrol with music by Dominic Frontiere. Set in North Africa during World War II, this series chronicles the adventures of a 4-man team of commandos within the Long Range Desert Group. Armed with jeeps equipped with .50-caliber machine guns--and endless chutzpah--they wage a highly irregular war against Rommel's Afrika Korps. Their most common nemesis is Hauptmann Dietrich, though Dietrich and the Rats join forces from time to time against a common enemy. This limited edition release of 1200 copies features some of the best music written for this classic 1960's WWII television show.
