Ron Goodwin R.I.P.
9-Jan-2003 - The British composer Ron Goodwin has died. He was 77 years old but until recently was still conducting concerts of his music around the world. Probably best known for his 'war' movie scores, such as Where Eagles Dare, Force 10 from Navarone, Battle of Britain and 633 Squadron, he famously replaced a score by Henry Mancini for Hitchcock's Frenzy in 1972. He also scored the comedies Monte Carlo or Bust and Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines, and several 'Miss Marple' films.

More recently his music from The Trap was used as the theme for the BBC's London Marathon coverage.

He was a charming man and a gifted composer.
