The Film Music Of Francis Chagrin
28-Jun-2005 - Chandos Movies has released in their Film Music of... series The Film Music Of Francis Chagrin. The BBC Philharmonic under the baton of Rumon Gamba plays on this CD, besides the overture from Helter Skelter, all premiere recordings from nine scores of Francis Chagrin. Amongst them An Inspector Calls, The Colditz Story, a suite from Greyfriars Bobby, The Four Just Men, four orchestral episodes from The Intruder, and Yugoslav sketches from The Bridge, to name a few. Francis Chagrin prepared no fewer than four of the titles here for the concert hall. The rest of this music has been arranged for concert performance by Philip Lane, who is much acclaimed for his arrangements for the Chandos Movies series.
