Beyond by Godwin Borg (July 19, 2005)
Like many others I first came along William R. Stromberg's name while enjoying the 'Marco Polo' classical score collection and had started wondering if this conductor had ever scored any film, after a brief research I found out Mr Stromberg is also a composer. Son of director William R Stromberg, and brother of visual artist Robert, William T. Stromberg surely is proving to be one of the most dynamic and powerful contemporary film music composers! The music on this Atomic bomb movie is a tribute to the composers' own favourite composers from the Golden age, there are hints of Newman, Herrmann & Co. coomposers whose work Stromberg has definitely assimilated through the many years of conducting and reconstructing their scores. The Moscow Symphony Orchestra and Chorus deliver a massive interpretation of Strombergs's music. The feature also has additional music by Stromberg's frequent collaborator John Morgan, extra additional music is provided by Lennie Moore and Edgardo Simone. A highly recommendable buy if you're into the big, beautifully arranged scores of the Golden age of cinema. 2 thumbs up for Stromberg & Co.
