L'Onorata Famiglia is not just another great soundtrack from Italian unforgettable and legendary composer / conductor Maestro BRUNO NICOLAI but definitely one of the milestones of the genre. Apart from having been a great composer Maestro NICOLAI was also a brilliant conductor, conducting among others many scores for composers such as ENNIO MORRICONE, FIORENZO CARPI, PIERO PICCIONI and CARLO RUSTICHELLI. Written in 1973 this soundtrack is the perfect blend of traditional Italian melodies and arrangements, the groove of the seventies and a pinch of psychæledia from the late 60's (check out track 9 'Gin" to get a clearer idea) Additional instruments apart from the orthodox orchestrally used ones are guitars, the Jew's harp, mandolin, whistles and syntheseisers that really spice this great soundtrack and give it more depth and belonging to tat particular decade. Overall a heavy feeling of melancholy dominates the score but suspence and 70's rock music fans are likely to also like this score. No NICOLAI collection can miss this great title. This cd is one of the best example of how brilliant was the Maestro both as composer and equally as conductor.

This review is dedicated to the memory of Maestro BRUNO NICOLAI. (1926-1991)
