Possibly The Greatest Of All Morricone Scores!
by
Victor Valentine (October 3, 2006)

The classic epic directed by Sergio Leone starring Charles Bronson and Henry Fonda is a one one a kind experience and one of those rare occasions when spending nearly 3 hours of your life staring at images and listening to dialog/sound effect and music is truly worth the time.

Needs to be viewed on a huge theatre screen in order for the full effect of the carefully reconstructed era of the 1800's to be fully appreciated

A film like this can be made only once although it's influence can be seen in countless emulations past, present and without doubt, the future.

The score by Ennio Morricone is a true masterpiece. A work of art appreciated the world over. Countless numbers of score recordings from many a nation. Japan, France, England, Germany, Spain, Italy, America... Many compilation recordings featuring a theme or two. Vinyl, compact disc, cassette, 8 track, reel to reel. You name it! It's out there floating around like treasure amongst a sea of trash.

Beautiful musical description of vast landscapes and human emotion. To experience the score is to float away to a strange form of heaven.

Scenes so touching and scored so perfectly as to make grown men drop a tear and women weep like lost children.

I like this score! It's one of my favorites. It's followed me on a strange evolution for the past 27 years and will be with me at the moment of death when at that point it will drift off into another direction as I drift off into my own new dimension.

Hailed the world over and hailed once again! *****
