Mizzy and Knotts - Comedy's Herrmann and Hitchcock!
by filmfactsman (December 17, 2005)
A delightful follow up to Vic Mizzy's "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken", this sparkling score once again pays a long-belated tribute to the composer's magical contributions for some of the most memorable comedy films and television shows of the 1960s. Mizzy was never taken seriously as a film composer when he was working alongside Goldsmith, Bernstein, North, Williams, Mancini, Tiomkin, Previn, Barry and Gold. No Oscar nominations ever came his way. But I can't imagine the Don Knotts films nor the television shows ("The Addams Family," "Green Acres," etc.) without his zany talents. However, I should warn you: you'll be whistling the theme tune for days after listening to this CD; it's that catchy!
