This Is What Makes It All Worthwhile!
by a soundtrack collector (April 7, 2006)
Timeless film from 1970 directed by Elio Petri tells a tale of political corruption. Scored by Ennio Morricone the recording of music from the soundtrack offers listeners an oppourtunity to contemplate their own circumstances to the background sounds of a genuinely unique human being.

Often emulated and without equal the composer offers within this score a sound from another level of human existance. A world unto it's own begins to develop and take form as each note plays out like peculiar clockwork. The Earth becomes a different place through experience and the connection is made through music.

In it's day the film gained quite the audiences by way of world wide release. Art Houses showcased the excitement on screen with late night showings back when college campuses had at least one good theatre.

Another recording exists of themes by the composer performed by a group of leading musicians on the French scene. "Cosmos Music In Movieland" (General Music/France) opens with a version of the theme from "Investigation Of A Citizen Above Suspicion" that may very well challenge the usual mindset and shatter a few preconcieved notions along the way! *****
