C'Est La Guerre

Godwin Borg (May 29, 2005)
When I first saw this film I was just a boy but the imagery and segments of the score were still impressed in my memory. Was it not thanks for the help of my friend Giovanni I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to own this score I was looking so long for. It's not an easy to find title but definitely a title to look out for if you are into classical epic and big scores performed by real orchestras and choirs. The arrangements that Maestro Sarde penned for this score are truly spectacular in all aspects. Everything falls at the right place. The score is bombastic where needed, mellow and rhythmic where called for and highly emotional also, a gargantuan performance by both the London Symphony Orchestra and the Ambrosian Singers) The solo wind instruments (flutes and panflutes) give an even warmer feel to this magnificent score that after almost one quarter of a century still shines and pleases te ears of its admirers. Definitely a modern classic. A full five stars to Maestro PHILIPPE SARDE for this gem of a soundtrack.
