I was excited about hearing Iva Davie's score for "Razorback". I'd read a lot of good things about it, and noticed that according to IMDB, it had been nominated for Best Original Score by the Australian Film Institute. Hipe like that; how could you loose? While I cannot judge the effectiveness of the score as heard in the film, which I've yet to see, I can tell you that musically, this score is just another piece of 80's synth crapola. "crapola" may be a bit strong a word, but really, this is forgettable stuff. The "main theme" sounds like it was written for the opener of a rock concert, minus the excitement music like that tends to build in the listener. It's rather boring music to be honest, and very dated. "Sarah's Theme" attempt to develope some pathos, but the music is largely uninspired and contrived. This score, in all honestly, is best left to the pigs--lame pun intended.
