Not J.B at his best.......

J.B seemed to be lazy with this soundtrack, just re-recording several tracks he had already made, under different names. But this is still worth buying, for the title track, and for the great "People get up and drive your funky soul", which is a 'new' track. From what I've read, James didn't take 'scoring' seriously, leaving most of it to the inventive musical mind of Fred Wesley. "Black Caeser" is much better though.

jb has done it again and his band the jb's were good on here the cd has a bit of frank sinatra goes to the apollo thang happening here one of my faves is transmografication fred wesley goes off.

Issac Hayes had SHAFT, Curtis had SUPERFLY, Edwin Starr got HELL UP IN HARLEM, JB got BLACK CEASAR (Hell Up In Harlem, Pt. 1) and Slaughter's Big Rip Off.

If you like Fred Wesley and The JBs and James Brown's albums circa THE PAYBACK this album is a must have. The film ain't too bad either (if you're into Black Action films). Brother Rapp, the Jazzy Transmogripfication prominantly featuring Fred Wesley and People Get Up And Drive Your Funky soul are JB classics ! Lyn Collins "The Female Preacher" (of "It Takes Two To Make A Thing Go Right" fame) is also in it.

Check out the James Brown's FUNKY PEOPLE (1, 2 and 3) series if you like this stuff ! Also check out REALITY and HELL, two other classic JB albums of that particular era, plus FRED WESLEY AND THE J.B.'s Breakin' Bread !

this was hot man fred wesley and the jb's put it down james brown gave us another chapter of funk with this one here old school rap heads will recognize many of these tunes have been sampled plus features the sexy miss lyn collins mama feel good.
