Liz DOES IT to Stephen Sondheim!

One of the few things Elizabeth Taylor can't do is sing. Yet, somehow she was entrusted to handle the musical's show-stopper: "Send in the Clowns" for the film version. Compared to her, Diana Rigg, who sings "Every Day a Little Death" from the film, comes across like Celine Dion. This box-office bomb actually won an Academy Award in 1977 for Original Song Score, despite Taylor's tone-deaf performance. She also makes a mess out of "You Must Meet My Wife" and the finale, "Send in the Clowns/Night Waltz", both with Len Cariou. This recording hasn't made it to CD yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if it does get a release in the near future, with all of the bizarre soundtrack re-releases I've seen lately. If you're a fan of the musical, stick with the 1973 Original Broadway Cast CD.
