The Face, The Heart, The Soul
by Godwin Borg (October 3, 2006)
When a great composer passes away it is a double sad loss, first for their loved ones and then for their fans and so was the case not too long ago when Maestro Francesco De Masi passed away, but like all great composers his work stays as legacy and testimony of his genius and this is definitely one of Maestro De Masi's greatest works for sure.
Ringo Il Volto Della Vendetta (transl. as Ringo , The Face Of Revenge) is one of the most energetic and melodic Spaghetti Western scores of all time. The melodies summon more than pictures in one's head, they go deep down into your head and straight to your heart with an incredibly smoothness. The main theme is best heard on the beautiful solo trumpet , accompanied by orchestra and band, beautiful electric guitar work as well and a gorgeous performance by harmonica legend Franco De Gemini, who also gives us his own unique rendition of Ringo's main theme. This is music written from the heart and filtered through the beautiful mind that Francesco had, it's emotional, very evokative and at the same time very sharp and magnificently arranged. This score is one of the true gems i nthe Spaghetti western genre and it was about time it got a full release on CD, so thank you GDM for this one. Get it before it's too late, this cd is close to get out of print so hurry up or you will regret it later.
Maestro De Masi was definitely one of the main men in the Spaghetti Western genre and his music, like his soul will live forever! Bravo Maestro. Le vorremmo sempre bene!!!
