    Absolutly Incredible
by a soundtrack collector (March 19, 2003)
The saga of Dune has always had excellent music. The original David Lynch film with it's score by Toto was fantastic and very innovative. While not as good as the Toto version, the soundtrack from the John Harrison mini-series was good, moody and really fit the setting. Now Brian Tyler's Children of Dune soundtrack is out, and it has successfully surpassed all of the other attempts to score stories in the Dune saga.
Mr. Tyler first began by throwing out everything from the previous entries in the saga. You will not find any themes from the Lynch or Harrison versions whatsoever. Instead, you will find new themes, majestic for the Atriedes in the begining, with tragic reworkings of them in the end. The stunning Inama Nushif, the song that stirred so much attention from the trailers and from the most memorable scene in the movie is brilliant and beautiful. Never have I heard a song that brough out so many emotions out. Also be sure to listen to the track called Farewell as it is a recant of the Inama Nushif theme without the vocals, very beautiful.
This CD is not just for the average soundtrack collector. This is beautiful music at it's best, and should not be considered just another Sci-fi soundtrack. This is what music is supposed to be. I look forward to seeing more of Mr. Tyler's work, as I have now been introduced to a composer with more potential that I have seen since James Horner's beginnings.
