Surprisingly wonderful
by a soundtrack collector (May 23, 2006)
I watched the mini-series on the Sci-Fi Channel and was instantly on my computer to find out when the soundtrack would be released. Luckily for me, the studios released it and I was introduced to the oddly refreshing world of Richard Gibbs- a world of thumping percussion, beautiful vocals and stirring ethnic themes. Some have complained that it contains "too much action", but even those cues and beautiful and convey the strength and courage of the young pilots fighting for their survival.
If I had to pick ONE track to absolutely fall in love with it would have to be "To Kiss or Not to Kiss", the lyrics of which are a mantra from the Upinishads.

a Battlestar that lives up to the name

This is one not to miss..if you love the sci fi genre then this will be an instant classic in your collection. Don't miss the opening transition of the main cylon theme into the actual new Battlestar theme. Forget the old one from the 70's because you won't find it here..track one introduces you to the Battlestar Galactica's own theme, track two introduces you into the show's theme that was used weekly only through half of season one. The alternate show theme is later at the end of the cd and is now used weekly to intro the show. Judge for yourself which is better!

The militaristic overtones of this one are not to be missed but the standout is "Reunion". This cd will set you up for the season one cd, and your collection will not be complete without both.
