Some interesting tracks abound, by Alex (June 16, 2006)
Reinhold Heil and Johnny Klimek are frusterating composers. On both this disk and their score for "The Cave", there are a few really good tracks amongst many, MANY generic tracks. The music for Romero's latest entry in his Zombie trilogy sounds a bit like the early work of John Carpenter--think "The Fog". The only real hint at a main theme is a very pretty piano cue that is often played at the appearance of the lead zombie, Big Daddy.
The best track here is unquestionably "To Canada". Awesome stuff, strong beats, memorable melodies and quite pulse-pounding, definitely standing out against the orchestral jabs that otherwise plague the disk.
This score is a tessament to the fact that Heil and Klimek CAN compose memorable stuff--just not very often.
