  You'll get Lost in this music!

I've never watched the show (kinda wish I had now), nor was I familiar w/ Giacchino's work before hearing this soundtrack, but let me say: wow! Michael knows how to hit all the right notes. His music is wonderful, especially the more somber and emotional pieces ("Just Die Already", "Think Clairely", "Win One For the Reaper"), which, while written for ful orchestra, often sound so amorphous and soundscape-ish you simply get lost in their melodies. The piano theme, first heard in track 10 I believe, is lovely.
Action cues are loud, percussive, and like the emotional ones, plentiful. Drums and brass aggresively fill the speakers in "World's Worst Beach Party" and "Getting Ethan", while crass, explosive orchestral shrieks can be heard in "Run Like, Um...Help?" or "Monsters Are Such Innnteresting People".
There are a few tracks here I really loved. The first of these is "Navel Gazing", which starts with a light, saddening string motif which is gradually built upon by playful orchestral flourishes. Another highlight is ""Locke'd Out Again", a track that begins like many others with a soft string melody that soon reaches a lovely piano-led cresendo (I may be wrong, but I could have sworn a chrous was in there somewhere too). "I've Got A Plane To Catch" takes a break from the more action-oriented or emotionally engaging cues and offers a benign, drum-laden motif that's both light and uplifting. My favorite track on the disk, however, must be "Parting Words", which takes the soft string and piano themes through their various motifs before finally reaching a beautiful, over-whelming, full-orchestra crescendo. It's an absolutely beautiful piece of music.
"Lost" is one of the best television scores I've heard...ever, frankly. I'm very impressed with Mr. Giacchino's work and highly recommend this album!
