    Great Follow Up
by Michael Longstreet (May 14, 2008)
Harry Gregson-Williams returns to score the second film in the franchise, after providing music for The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe in 2005. The album, like the film, is a little darker than the first one. But that’s the way the story works.
The overall Narnia theme is brilliantly woven into the new music in tracks like “Return of the Lion,” “The Kings and Queen of Old.” While standouts on the album include “The Duel,” “Arrival at Aslan’s How,” and “Prince Caspian Flees,” there really isn’t a bad track here. The beautiful melodic tracks featured on the album are soothing at times, while driving and pounding during others. I found the 12 score tracks to be excellent in every way.
In an effort to not release a “Music Inspired By” album, there are also four songs here too. The Enhanced CD also gives you CD-ROM access to the film’s trailer, photo gallery, and a peek at other albums available from Walt Disney Records. If you’re a fan of Harry Gregson-Williams (Shrek, Metal Gear Solid 2), or just a fan of great music, definitely add this one to your collection. It’s definitely worth the buy.
