    A MASTERPIECE!!
by Franklyn Wilson (September 6, 2006)
This one is from early in Dave Grusin's career, and I personally think he did some of his best work from 1968 to 1979. His later stuff tends to be more jazzy, as in "Random Hearts", or new agey, as in "On Goldon Pond". Still in all, the man is a genius. This film, "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter", is my favorite film of all time, and Grusin's gorgeous score has much to do with that. It is indeed, a brilliant accomplishment in film composition. No matter what the task at hand, Mr. Grusin is always able to help effectively emote any film along. There is no such thing as a "Bad" Grusin score!! Period!!
