un-numbered due to an over-run on the initial 2000 pressing - is there such a version?

Hi I'm looking at buying a version of the original version - gold pressing of this CD. It's a repressing, so I'm told using 'SCSE CD-3-G' designate. It has NO NUMBER - is it fake? or is it the real deal? Apparently it was part of an over run from the initial 2000 pressing. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Actually, I believe that the gold version was limited to 750 copies and the silver version was limited to 2000 copies (I have the silver version and mine is copy #1843). Personally, I would not trust the authenticity of an unnumbered copy, because people have gotten quite good at pressing bootlegs over the past few years, although I admit it seems entirely possible that some unnumbered copies were left over from the original pressing. Without looking closely at the disc and comparing it to the legitimate numbered copy in my collection, I would not be able to give you a definitive answer as to whether or not the unnumbered copy is a fake. This reminds me of all of those hundreds of unnumbered Cherry 2000 CDs that suddenly appeared on the market in the late 90's/early 00's (and can still be purchased through certain soundtrack e-tailers) and were supposed to be left over from the original Varese Club pressings from 1987. Yeah, right! Caveat emptor. Like I said, however, I cannot say whether or not the unnumbered Dragonslayer CD is fake without comparing the identifying numbers that are located around the center ring of the disc. Of course, if it's a CD-R or something, that's a dead giveaway, but otherwise, closer inspection and comparison would be necessary.

Much appreciated. I did wonder. It's the old saying if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. I think I'll decline pursuing this CD, I don't want to get it home and find out I've been had!
