The Daydreamer is a CDR!!!!
Just a note for anybody contemplating on buying the new limited "The Daydreamer" CD on Percepto...Don't buy it! I was shocked today when I got the CD and found it to be a CD-R with a color xerox sleeve. I was very disapointed in Percepto who usually puts out very high quality merchandise. I haven't even listened to yet...hopefully its not just an LP rip also.

At least they could have noted that this super limited release is a CD-R in their description as they had done with The Saucer Man.
It's strange and way unprofessional that Percepto did this. Have you emailed them?

Damn it! I've ordered but haven't received it yet... A CD-R!!! I think Percepto should have said it was a CD-R. I'm feeling utterly ripped-off. I didn't expect this from Percepto :(

What!?!?! That's scandalous. I know they've sold CD-Rs in the past (see: Ernest Saves Christmas), but at least then they advertised it as a CD-R. I'd be SO pissed if I had bought this CD and received a CD-R! Sorry you guys have to deal with this unfortunate situation. That just plain sucks. :-(

Just out of curiosity, why would one automatically assume it was a PRESSED release? There's really nothing wrong with a CD-R, you know....one can't really call it "false advertising" either, because they also didn't advertise it as being PRESSED.
kriegerg69, June 26, 2007; 11:59 PM

Well, kriegerg69, how many legitimate record companies are you aware of that sell CD-Rs? I can't think of any (except the example that I mentioned above re: Ernest Saves Christmas, when they actually advertised it as being a CD-R, and that was a composer promo, not one of Percepto's own releases). Usually only people making homemade copies sell CD-Rs, not "respectable" record labels. But then again, you're into "sharity" downloading and crap like that, so one can't expect that you would share the disappointment of collectors who actually pay for their music and expect to get high-quality merchandise in return, only to receive a CD-R with a xerox insert!

Hello,
This company seems to relish shooting itself in the foot, They have always had a reputation for bad customer service, I can never seem to get a reply to my emails. To order a limited edition cd and receive a cd-r without that fact been made clear in the discription of the release is just plain wrong! It's a shame, Because I have enjoyed many of their releases over the years.
Best Regards,
David Phoenix, AZ.

I did not know about ''Ernest Saves Xmas'' being a CD-R but at least as stated it was advertised as such.
They had front inlays left over from the release of ''The Saucer Man'' which was an official pressing at first and they made CD-R's using those left over inlays for anyone who had missed on the original limited release pressed CD but at least they advertised it as a CD-R.
They went for like 10 bucks if I'm not mistaken.
Percepto seems like a trustworthy soundtrack label with a lot of great releases in their tracking record and it suprises very much that something like this has happened.
Eric, I don't mean to doubt you and to sound rude but man, are you sure this is a CD-R???
It simply might be a very cheap release and even if it was, it is inexcusable!
Besides isn't the selling of CD-R's llegal? So I thought!
serifiot, June 27, 2007; 11:31 AM

Hi Serifiot!
I went back and checked the CD, and it is definetely not your typical silver pressed CD. It is darker in color, not green or blue though. I even compared it to disc one of Percepto's new Ronald Stein box set, and I can definitely tell you they were not made at the same place or the same kind of disc. I know for sure though that the cover is high quality color xerox! Mine also came with a huge scratch on it (to add insult to injury!).

What can I say...
There are manufactured CD's not CD-R's out there that are darker in color or kind of yellowish?... I think.
Let's see what some other people who have ordered and once received would comment.
I remember my ''Waterworld'' cd soundtrack was not exactly silver (kind of yellowish... is it disc rot???!) and to be frank I don't think it was new either even though I thought it was when I had purchased it in this record store but definitely no CD-R.
If it makes you feel better, my Changeling deluxe booklet came in mutulated form as if someone decided to chew on it before placing it in the jewel case but Percepto was responsive and kind enough in sending me another through Screen Archives with my Ronald Stein collection which... came in a broken CD jewel case damn it!
How the hell do I find a six cd case?!
Request another front inlay!
Cheers!....

They should change their name to Decepto!

Could it be that Percepto also sold CD-Rs of "Miracle On 34th Street"? Yesterday, my CD fell off the shelf by accident and when I put it back in the case, I noticed that the surface of the playing side was slightly green and that there is black writing on the inner ring of the CD. I purchased the CD a few years ago from an amazon.com powerseller (who is quite popular and sells thousands of items), so I wonder, how this wholesaler got hold of this. Furthermore, all cover artwork is faithfully reproduced.
