'Les Gants Blancs Du Diable' reissue: it's on
Dustygroove.com has announced the reissue for "Les Gants Blancs Du Diable", a
gorgeous french score by Karl Heinz Schäfer.
But WHO is rereleasing this score? Does any of you experts know?
Release date; early september 2007. can't wait. :)

Great news indeed! But as for the label, I could only guess that it might be Dreyfus again.
PS: Could you provide a link? I didn't manage to find any information on DG's site...
coma, July 11, 2007; 5:52 PM

Uh, the info popped up when putting "karl heinz" in "search" at dustygroove.com.
Dreyfus was my first guess too but i can't find any additional info so far… still hoping for
some inside info. :)
flambeur, July 11, 2007; 6:01 PM

Ok, found it. And it will definitely not be Dreyfus, as there is a companion vinyl release
announced.
My next guess would be Petra Records, a tiny italian label which already did a similar release for
Legrand's "La Dame Dans L'Auto...".

Petra Records? Sounds interesting. Never heard of this label. Got a link for me? thx in
advance!
flambeur, July 11, 2007; 6:30 PM

I've really done an intense research once, but didn't manage to find anything about them. I
suppose it's a very tiny operation and I'd be surprised if their releases were perfectly legit.. ;-)
But I really enjoy their Legrand, which is still in DG's database.
Btw, I just stumbled across the news, that Lalo Schifrin's (!) "Pope Joan" is scheduled for
release in July. I always thought the score was by Maurice Jarre. (No label mentioned for this
one...)

Why Dreyfus again David? This has only been released on LP with 16 tracks and never on CD as far as I know.
It might be Universal France as well, part of their Ecoutez Le Cinema series.
I guess Dusty Groove would be the best source to inquire if they are willing to give info.
It would be great news indeed if this rarity ever materializes on CD.
serifiot, July 11, 2007; 6:48 PM

Yep seri, I already mailed DG for further information.
Dreyfus came to my mind because they were the only label which dared to release a Schäfer
score in the last decade. And Universal's ELC is not bound for new releases in September.
But it might also be Crippled Dick, because they're known for parallel vinyl / CD releases too.
(I only hope it's not just that sort of hoax like "Pope Joan". Or did I miss something and
there's a rejected score by Schifrin for this flick?)
;-)))
coma, July 11, 2007; 6:55 PM

according to dustygroove it will be on both formats… not bad!
flambeur, July 11, 2007; 6:54 PM

I'm also hoping for Crippled. the did this 'Shake Sauvage' french collection a couple of
years ago… Maybe Trunk or Finders keepers? Or isn't it obscure enough for those two?
flambeur, July 11, 2007; 6:59 PM

Are you excluding Universal France? The recent Le Mans cancellation was not pleasant. Inform us when and if Dusty responds David. This 'Sherlock Holmes' search has gotten me wired. The other by Petra you were referring to is temp out of stock. Never heard of the label either. Those Italians! Luv them!!
serifiot, July 11, 2007; 7:02 PM

By the way the cover art on the Eden 16 track LP is for framing.
It would be interesting to see the new cover art on this rerelease. I would not mind if they used the same.
serifiot, July 11, 2007; 7:08 PM

You luv them, seri? Ok, as long as you do not have to live and deal with them. They simply
drive you nuts!
;-)))
Btw, has anyone seen the movie? It's a very strange french crime flick which owes a lot to
Godard. And it stars Bernadette Lafont... *sigh*
coma, July 11, 2007; 7:08 PM

Yeah, they do drive you nuts. They don't even speak English. But I like their creativity and flair.
Have not seen the movie but I luv the music.
serifiot, July 11, 2007; 7:12 PM

In fact, 99.9% of them speak nothing but some kind of italian. I always have to turn to FNAC if
I feel the need to communicate in a more cultural language... Ho finito! (pardon! ;-))))
coma, July 11, 2007; 7:23 PM

There is always the 'Universal Language' to resort to but I don't think mixing business with pleasure is wise!
:- )
PS
Unless one is Alexis.
serifiot, July 11, 2007; 7:45 PM

I have this slight suspicion it is going to be released on Vadim Music…
flambeur, July 18, 2007; 5:31 PM

I am so right! :)
