Dark Crystal 2CD release

Am I wrong in assuming the Dark Crystal "Numenorean" 2CD release is a bootleg? According to this database, it is legit. Obviously the first disc is the original soundtrack (now re-released), while the 2nd disc is most likely the isolated DVD track...

Anybody know the story behind this?

No, it's legit indeed. More reading on this release is here:

I am very fortunate to have this limited edition CD, just wondering how many other of you soundtrack collectors have it?

I've got copy #1061/5000.

@ Chris Hobbit

If you want to see who has a specific title in their collection,
just go to the upper left side of the page of that specific soundtrack,
and click on "other members", then you'll see a list
of people who have that title in their collection.

Here is the link to the Dark Crystal owners...

Yes, but...not all members keep track of their collections on this database. (including myself)

American.Nightmare, August 3, 2007; 8:51 PM

That's true, I forgot to mention that...
You can only see the collection of members
who are more or less out of the closet (music-wise spoken ofcourse ;-))

Question - If a collector uses this site and has all of their soundtracks added to the database, why would that person not want other people to see what they have in their collection?

dspin24358, August 4, 2007; 9:05 PM

dspin24358,

There was a time when I kept track of my collection on this site, and when I did, the list was always accessible to other members, as was my e-mail address. However, I used to receive a lot of spam from people offering to buy or sell illegal copies, and that got to be pretty annoying. Also, when I started collecting and trading more fervently it became a chore to remember to add and delete titles from the database that were coming and going from my collection.

Eventually I was forced to change e-mail addresses when my ISP changed domain name, so rather than update my original account, I abandoned my old user ID (American_Nightmare) and created a new one (American.Nightmare), leaving the collection list behind (at that point already six months without an update and extremely inaccurate). That was a few years ago, and I haven't added any titles to my new user ID since it was created.

Nowadays, if I want to see what CDs are in my collection I just go take a look on the shelf, although I still find this website to be an invaluable resource and a wonderul asset to soundtrack fans worldwide.

As far as the answer to your question, I have no idea. ;-)

I saw this database as a way of keeping a detailed list of all my soundtracks, but I noticed I have a lot of releases that aren't mentioned here.
I tried adding them, but it takes a long time (if ever) before the database is updated (no offence to the guys maintaining this site!).

I found it a lot easier to keep record of my own collection through a simple excel file.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I agree, this site is invaluable. I use to write down all my cd's but now they are just listed here. Since everything is alphabetical I can just scan quick to see what I have. This is terrible, but sometimes I can't remember what I have or don't have. I also do that for insurance purposes, in case someone comes in and steals the cds in the dark w/out knowing what they are taking. Imagine a thiefs suprise - they would probably throw them out the window. Anyway, I just can't think of a reason to hide a collection if it is listed in the database, from the other members.

If a SC member had their email changed for whatever reason they can transfer whatever soundtracks they have categorized and included in SC's database to their new email with no hassle just by a few mouse clicks.

One can also keep their soundtrack collection public and email private or vice versa.

There are so many options one has really which I don't feel like getting into.

SC is basically a great tool for any soundtrack collector.

Also, SC's gang have made it so easy for the less inclined in computer wizardy like myself which I'm very grateful.

As far as keeping my soundtrack collection list current, I add and remove soundtracks to SC's database as they come and go (they hardly go anywhere for the time being) so keeping it updated is not a problem.

For the soundtracks that are not included in SC's database, I try to submit whatever info there is to submit and then are catalogued to a notebook.

Personally, I stumbled on this website as I was trying to find some website that would help me alphabetically categorize my soundtrack collection instead of doing everything manually on paper.

SC's setup was simple and FREE! and it has been an invaluable wealth of information since to say the least and very practical when it comes to categorizing my soundtrack collection either by title or composer.

The forum came much later and I don't think you'll get rid of me that easily... lucky you!

I agree with Daffy. My collection is in the database, but not publicly visible, because I do not
think that anyone is really interested in strolling through some dozen pages to see what's on
my shelves.
