Re: Film " Batteries not included"

The Soundtrack CD for this film is very pricey: $66.00 in the USA and £59.00 in the UK + shipping, via Amazon. Why is this? Is it a "collector's item"?

Can it be obtained at a cheaper rate?

120 Euros on Amazon.de, 148CAN$ on Amazon.ca.

I guess it's because it's 20 years old now. After such a period, most things tend to get rare. And
then free market economy sets in... ;-)

Hi coma,

Thanks for the information. It seems like I have "wandered" into an unexpected area of activity.

Hi Ralph, you can still get it "reasonably priced" I have seen it seel on ebay for £23 recently and £30 so keep your eyes glued to the auction websites and you might get lucky.

Overrated score to a much-overrated movie. It's way too long....People forget that this story was originally intended to be a 30 minute episode of "Amazing Stories" and they decided to expand it into a feature film. Big mistake, IMHO, even with the great cast, because this would have worked much better in a 30 minute television format. It's simply way too long and dull because of that.

Hi Krieger69..

There's a lot in what you say, but, I found the "lush" main theme very enjoyable, maybe at age 71+ one can understand that resonance with my early musical awareness.

On a more serious note; although I found the 'machines' cute, it is nice to think that there is 'something' out there...that will will save us from ourselves, maybe....??

Exactly.....the film as it is is too "cutesy". Probably had it been done in shorter form for tv might have helped it in many ways. I understand your point about "something" saving us from ourselves, but the film (for me, anyway) drags way too often in too many places in between the scenes involving the extra-terrestrials.

Technically speaking, I share your views. Unfortunately, just lately I have got hooked on philosophy and metaphysics.

Pisces people are like that! So, I have become a real pain in the butt amongst people who are quite content NOT to "wonder"..what it's all about..

Awesome score. You can pick it up quick cheap if you purchase carefully. I have seen it sell for as little as £25 UK punds so there is still hope for you..
