I got into listening and eventually buying soundtracks because of my parents.

One Christmas back in the late seventies I was given, by my parents, a 'portable' record player and an album titled something like Music from Disaster Movies - it featured Jaws, Earthquake etc. though the music was good it weren't by the original artists.

I'm not sure why they gave me these as a Christmas Present since I don't ever recall wanting anything like......however I was into movies at a young age and enjoyed going to the theatre so I guess that could be the reasoning behind it......whatever the reason, I'm glad they did.

My musical taste is now very varied ranging from pop, classical, soundtracks, rock, indie (etc, etc)......I like to think that if it weren't for my parents my taste in music would've been rather bland.

I have a love of music anyway and love for movies , so it was a natural progression into collecting soundtracks.
Finding that you could actually buy soundtracks was a revelation and now a passion that has lasted for 40 years.
The music in movies was so prominent in my psyche that I loved to recall the movies through the music...to this day, when i say to people, wasnt the music great, they would respond...what music?....whoa.
My focus at movies is always the music...a sense of expectation...what will it be this time, but howerever, these days I generally have the soundtrack before the movie screens, so there is a head start...lol.
Such a lifetime of enjoyment and pleasure, listening to the music of movies....hooked, and still hooked.
