Question

Back to the Future Score

Is there a CD available with Silvestri's score for this film? I've got the CD which has only two tracks of score. The rest is music from the motion picture. I've also got the trilogy album, but it doesn't sound quite as good. I would like Alan Silvestri's original score for the first film.

While I was browsing the net just today, I found a blog which has 17 tracks of BTTF score to download. So, I took a listen and it appears to be a 'cut and paste' job of DVD rips. Sounds okay. Actually, it sounded bad. There was only a couple of tracks that sounded good. The rest were either clicky (or had popping sounds) throughout them or had very noticable changes in sound since they were pasted together. I guess the trilogy CD is going to have to do for now!

Apart from the 17 tracks available on the Delorean bootleg there is about 3-4 extra tracks on the legal BTTF Trilogy CD by John Debney

The official OST album has about 20 minutes of his score.

11 minutes (and the main theme is reprised)

I just found a blog which has 23 or some odd tracks of both score and OST music. But it sounds like crap. It's MP3 format at 320 kbps, but it doesn't sound it. Honestly, John Debney's re-recording sounds better.

The album you are looking for is the limited edition of 500 copies Released by Movie Music Records. Titled "Back to the Future" Original Motion Picture Score. This release is approved by Universal. The album contains 17 Tracks which i am told is the entire score from the film. I picked this up on ebay brand new and sealed for a very cheap price but i have seen them go for as much as £50 - £70.

Keep a look out

Hope this is of some help

Lax 4pm Don't be fooled into thinking that release you talk about is "approved by Universal", it's not it's just another bootleg! There are people selling those copies on ebay, but the truth is it has NEVER been released officially except in the versions which are coupled with the songs. Bob Gale and Alan Silverstri have said it is unlikely to be released due to high cost musicians union fees.

I dont think thas the high cost of orchestra are the only and priority reason, posibly this cost is not any problem, because there(universal) likely have master tapes of BTTF Score. The reason is, (and this have say A.Silvestri on interview) that universal have one and only copyright for BTTF Score, and will for this time not release official complete score of BTTF, and second they will not sell the copyright to another records, that mean too then Silvestri can't record anew this score on another records company (for example on Varese) - that is why Varese recorded BTTF Score with John Debney. Big hurt. Why such political Universal regulation? Alan don't know.

Why the universal will not record anew complete score?
