Alan Silvestri's Predator.........

Hello Soundtrack Collectors,

The following question might have been asked, but I am not sure as to how to look for specific questions on soundtrackcollector.com............I don't know if that is possible??

I recently acquired Alan Silvestri's Predator, and my question is:

Predator is 1986 scored by Alan Silvestri and Alien 3 is 1993 scored by Elliot Goldenthal........

Why is Elliot Goldenthal's arrangement of Alfred Newman's Twentieth Century Fox Fanfare used on the VareseSarabande soundtrack when Predator was released 7 years before Alien 3, and it was scored by Alan Silvestri???

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!

I think there's an explanation in the liner notes as to why that arrangement is included. Kind of a cool bonus I think...

Speaking of ALIEN 3, it must be in my top 5 for favourite horror score!

The liner notes do indeed refer to Elliot Goldenthal's Fox Fanfare arrangement for Alien 3 being used, but doesn't elaborate as to why this is so. The film opens with the standard Fox Fanfare and logo then pausing before the film (and Silvestri's score) starts. If I had to guess as to it's inclusion on the soundtrack I would say it just "fits" the overall mood of the score. Just a shame they didn't see their way to including it on the score to Alien 3, but logo music doesn't crop up all that often so we should be grateful that this nice variant has at least appeared somewhere!
