Question

Bragging Rights?

I always love it when I come across something at a reasonable price.

The other day I was poking around a used CD shop I seldom go to beacause there's usually nothing there I'm interested in.

Passing by a couple of days ago I thought Yeah... I'll go in and look around a bit. Then thought... Nah, it's pointless. Then decided to go in as I was passing by that way anyway.

The usual bad music playing loudly began to get on my nerves quickly. I looked around squinting my eyes in the bad lighting trying to read the edge of the discs on racks.

Anyway, I found the Silva disc of "Alien" Jerry Goldsmith for $2.99!

The "Alien" score has been one of my favorites and one of the first I bought on vinyl years ago. Saw the film at the drive-in on a huge 30 foot screen when it was released. I'm happy to have the disc to copy to my computer music library.

So what deals have the rest of you come across lately? Happens less and less these days but every so often.

You ONLY saw it in a drive-in? I saw it several times in 70mm 6-track Dolby Stereo.....You missed out on seeing it projected GOOD.

Hi knives! I hadn't too much time lately to look for good deals, but something unexpectedly
funny happened anyway.

I ordered a copy of John Ottman's Incognito from an Amazon marketplace dealer for 3$.
When it arrived, I was furious at first, because it looked like a cheap promo thing.

Opening it revealed, that it was a limited edition of 300 copies, hand numbered and
autographed, which had been released by his management.

I'm glad, I didn't give in to my very first tendency to throw it away unopened... ;-)

(Coma) Read your "Incognito" story a minute ago. At first I thought you wrote limited edition of 3000. Glanced again and saw 300. That's great.

Never have seen "Alien" in a theatre with great sound and projection. Only at a drive in.

In all fairness, the sound quality of drive-in viewing may have been poor but the projection really wasn't that bad as they were often constructed way out in the sticks where the lights of the city wouldn't impair the projection quality.

I saw Alien decades ago at the german premiere. Just like krieger, in 70mm and with Dolby
sound. Really frightening. I stayed up all night long and watched the shadows on the wall. ;-)

I would have loved to see movies at a drive-in theatre! Unfortunately, they were never that
popular over here and the only two that existed in my hometown, went bankrupt some years
before I had a license. :-(

I only last week picked Howard Shore's 3cd plus 1 dvd Complete recordings deluxe special boxset to The Fellowship Of the Ring for £2.99 in a charity shop! Part of the cardboard inner case was torn but who cares - the discs were immaculate and now all i have to do is find 3 hours to listen to the whole thing!

Oh, I found a copy of The Burbs - 3,000 limited edition for $1.99. A copy Of the Japanese Spacecamp by John Williams 60 cents. House by Harry Manfredini Varese,. they were all sealed and in immaculate condition and signed by the composers. The shop also said they would throw in the Jerry Goldsmith 75 birthday box set as I bought three cds! Oh and the entire Varese back catalog, not to mention Intrada..................................................and then I woke up, incredibly frustrated!
