Question

The Illusionist - Phillip Glass

Does anybody own this? I was going to buy it but when I went to preview it on amazon it seemed VERY repetitive. Can anybody confirm? Any thoughts on it?

I have seen the film but dont have the score and I thought the opening credit was brilliant. Throughout the film, however, there is a repetition of the main theme with some minor variations to it. Effective in the film but as a standalone CD, I don't know. I would suggest you watch the film, which is really good, and then decide.

Ya, I already saw the film. Its one of my favorites and I will agree. The main theme is fantastic but I think it repeats itself a lot.

Great Score by Phillip Glass, the CD is wonderfull from the beginning to the end...Not boring. If you love the minimalistic style of the american master with some touch more classical conventional, this is probably his latest masterpiece

Phillip Glass is often repetitive.

One of my favorite recordings by Glass is "Dance Pieces" (not a film score). It sounds as if you are listening to the same thing again and again yet if you listen closely it's slowly changing.

I like a lot of his music. Another great one is his recording with Ravi Shankar (also not a film score).
