Beatles info by Bruce Spizer

From "Beatles in America" books by Bruce Spizer, "A Hard Days Night United Artists Releases"
by Bruce Spizer

Thirty-five years after their initial release, the United Artists Beatles records remain an interesting part of Beatles collecting. Although the soundtrack album constantly shows up at flea markets and garage sales, the trick is finding a copy in near mint condition. This is an album that people enjoyed playing over and over again, so be prepared to pay a premium for top condition. Collectors should also be on the look out for the rarer pressings that have I'll Cry Instead on the label and the hard-to-find white label promotional LP.

All of the special radio and theater records are extremely rare. The George Martin singles did not sell particularly well and are becoming highly collectible. The picture sleeves, which feature photos of the Beatles, are two of the rarer Beatles sleeves. Beatle historians have known for years that United Artists underestimated the value of the first Beatles motion picture. Beatles collectors are now learning that everyone underestimated the value of the United Artists records associated with A Hard Day's Night. Who knows what these records will be worth in another thirty-five years.

So post it on a Beatles website.

Personally I can't stand the Beatles.

This whole site is dedicated to soundtracks, is it not? "Hard Days Night" is a movie. This post was to inform those of us here that have this LP,that even though it is common, it is worth a premium if it is in top condition.

Okay, but most people who are into film music don't care about Beatle recordings. Wouldn't it be smarter to post it on a lollypop music site?

Sometimes people like to hear that their Soundtracks are valuable monetarily speaking. It is interesting to hear about such things. If you are not a Beatles fan, fine. You don't need to flame my post on account of it. I am not a major Beatles fan either, but it is my most valuable record monetarily. Heck my Natural Born Killers soundtrack is more valuable to me in other ways.

Thanks for the info, Nate. You have a real gem and I hope you'll find someone who cherishes it!

Actually you are offering it for sale. My point is, why not post it on a Beatles site where more people would be interested in it. Most people who are interested in film music I would think couldn't care less. Personally I despise those old Beatles songs.

And by the way... Why the hell is Coma acting so warm and fuzzy friendly all of the sudden.

Not sure with the Coma thing. I do have one copy of "Hard Days Night" for sale. It is my common standard UA mono pressing. But I have others that I would not sell. When I said that the album was my most valuable monetarily, I was referring to my RCA pressing of the LP which is worth $600-$700. Unfortunately this sites database does not include this variation of the soundtrack in its listing.

@ knives: Perhaps it's because AHDN was one of my crucial childhood experiences and I still
love the movie and the music. *duck and cover*

@nate: If you own special pressings that are not yet listed in the database, it would be great if
you would submit the information!

I will do that, coma. There are quite a few variations to the Hard days releases. I am surprised that they are not listed.

The database is still far from completion, but a lot of members are doing their best to help
improving it step by step.

Cheerz,

David
