Prom Night (1980) horror OST LP for sale or trade
Hello fellow soundtrack collectors!
For sale or trade is a super copy of this rare Japanese only release of this 80's slasher soundtrack (actually a compilation of disco songs used in the film). The vinyl, obi, and jacket are all M- , the lyric sheet has a fold in the upper right corner. I thought I'd offer it here first before I put it on eBay. Please drop me an email if you are interested (or just respond to this post). Before making a cash offer, keep in mind that I have previously sold two other copies on eBay in the last two years and recieved OVER $100 for each. Interested parties send email to yeesus @ hotmail.com (of course, no spaces) and I'll let you know some titles I'm looking for.

$100 is way too much for that.....it's turned up on a couple of sharity blogs for nothing. Possibly even from an import CD.

I have no idea of the monetary value of this particular LP, but I'd rather pay fair market price for the original item than get an mp3 or bootleg/pirate copy for free.

Hey Kriger69
As I stated in the body of my post, I've ALREADY sold two copies on eBay in the past for over $100, so obviously I'm not gonna sell this beautiful copy for less than that. As for this release, it has NEVER been available outside Japan and there ONLY on LP. It has been bootleged on CD but it is just an LP rip. So what if its turned up as free downloads? 23 soundtrackcollector members have it on their soundtrack "wish list"-- I think that right there shows there is some (actually alot) of interest out there. Finally, you don't have to buy it, so please keep your opinions to yourself!

I agree with you 100% American Nightmare--who wants crummy MP3 files when you can get the real thing!

Who the hell ever said that ONLY positive, agreeing, and compliant replies were allowed here? I'm entirely entitled to MY opinion....whether you like it or not. Secondly, there was NOTHING in my reply which warranted your testy and almost-nasty response. I said, IMHO, that was too much to pay for something like that, and that IS my opinion. For someone who has unending piles of cash to go spending $100 or more on a 27 year-old soundtrack from a fair slasher film, that's their business....they can do what they like, but I have more things to worry about spreading my money around on that just ONE old soundtrack....thank you very much.
"Crummy MP3 files"? Not so "crummy" if they're ripped and prepared properly to sound GOOD. Face the facts, folks.....we ARE in a digital age and MP3 formats and the like are here to STAY, whether some like it or not. One day there likely will be NO more physical medium such as CD's, and the only thing WILL be digital downloading for burning on oe's own system. That's the facts of life in this day and age.
Try keeping YOUR snide opinions to YOURSELF, thank you.

There wasn't anything "snide" in my last post. Actually I think its rather "snide" to jump on someone's "for sale" post and say "its not worth the price the seller is asking...blah blah...free downloads...blah blah..." That is truly "snide". As to my "snide" response post, I am just giving YOU the FACTS (which in your post were glaringly absent). They are: many people want this LP and WILL pay big sums for it. That is the law of supply and demand. And many real collectors want an ORIGINAL copy not BOOTLEGED downloads or burned CDs. Sorry, those are the facts of life in the collecting world.

I agree with both, but it's just a case of demand. I would never give $100 for an album, even if it is rare, but some people might.
If there exists a 320kbps rip of the album with the hisses and pops removed, it might even sound better than the LP.
I hate the fact that the soundtrack thing has become all about business. Why would you ever buy 3 (or more) copies of the same LP, if not for selling it later to make a huge profit?
It is illegal to share it through the internet, because the creators/producers/distributors don't make any money from it, but selling legit copies for obscene prices doesn't profit them either...

Hello Rinse Dream
If you look at the original title of my post it says "For sale or TRADE" (emphasis mine) and if you look again the last sentence says: "and I'll let you know some titles I'm looking for." I actually would like a trade more than a sale, but unfortunately most people who want this particular soundtrack only have lots of cash, not lots of good things for trade. If you can get highly valued items for trade, why not? If it wasn't for me getting a 2nd copy of the very rare A Better Tomorrow soundtrack, I would have never gotten a copy of FSM's Omega Man CD. And if I can sell this copy of Prom Night, maybe I can afford a copy of the Milan Friday the 13th CD I've had my eye on (actually I have the LP, but I'm a collector so want the CD also). It is not like I have a box of Prom Night LP's to sell at my leisure. I still have to search for them like everybody else and I can tell you they don't pop up that often. The only "business" I'm in is getting titles I'm looking for to add to my collection. What about these people who buy multiple copies of the Varese Clubs (or other limited editions) and later try to sell or trade those? Just my two cents.

Hi Eric,
**What about these people who buy multiple copies of the Varese Clubs (or other limited editions) and later try to sell or trade those?**
That was actually what I was referring to. It was more meant as a comment in general, triggered by the fact that you had 3 copies of the same album and sold them for over $100 each.
But I realize it's all a question of supply and demand.

Even though this thread is now long forgotten (except by me) I want to add one final closing thought. Rinse_dream, I know you explained your response posts already, but let me point out a few more things. #1 In your first response post you said that selling things for "obscene" prices doesn't help out the artists and I agree with that. However, in my case (and I know you said your response was only "triggered" by post not directly about it) the prices paid for my two previous copies of Prom Night were not set by me, they were set by the bidders who raised it to that level themselves, as you pointed out "supply and demand". To me, it would have been an "obscene" price if I would have had a "buy it now" for $500. My second point is that (and again I have to restate it over and over again) is that I do not have a box of Prom Night soundtracks. I this response of mine is "triggered" by your statement that "sold three copies for over a hundred each" I've only sold two and those were over a year apart. The third one hasn't hit eBay yet because I was trying to give real soundtrack collectors the chance to trade with me before I put it on eBay (which I now regret doing because of this thread). I takes alot of time and energy (not to mention high postage costs for shipping the LP from Japan to here) so why would I sell it for a cost that would just break even. And because of the precedent set by two previous sales (showing that this was not an isolated incident of one or two maniacs with deep pockets bidding against each other) I will not let it go in a private sale (non-Ebay) for less than what I sold it before. Anyway sorry for my "rant" but I feel that certain self-righteous people are maligning me for no reason.

Don't worry, I understand what you're saying, but this I couldn't make out from your opening post. Also, I was just stating my opinion, that it's a shame OST's have become a 'business' and I think you partly agree with that.
It reminded me of a long forgotten post where someone tried to sell a picture disc LP of Jurassic Park for a whopping $500 ;)
