Question

HIGH NOON to be released

Hello,

I just read that one score that I never thought would see the light of the day will be released by http://chelsearialtostudios.com :

Dimitri Tiomkin's HIGH NOON

Like with the 3CD Blade Runner set, this news is almost too good to be true, in my opinion.

It's a great time to be a film music lover.

Best wishes,

Urs

A great score!

I had a nice original 1950's 16mm print of the film for about 20 years. Sold it a couple years ago.

The scene when all hell is about to break loose and the music with the clock slowly ticking towards noon and the faces of the towns people, then the clock again and the music building and building, is one of the most perfect scenes in the history of cinema.

A great Tiomkin score!

Did you guys know the film was originally shelved and wasn't going to be released? The song "Do Not Forsake Me" sung by Frankie Laine was released and became so popular the film was released as a result. Tex Ritter sings it in the film.

A hell of a film. I constructed a 12 by 10 foot screen out of two by fours and plywood in the back yard and projected that gem quite a few times on warm summer nights.

I still have my print of "Bride Of Frankenstein" though. Will be a cold day in hell before I part with that one.

"The Western Film World Of Dimitri Tiomkin" has some great re-recorded exerpts of the "High Noon" score.

As a matter of fact one of the producers at the label releasing the "High Noon" score bought another one of my 16mm prints.

As usual, please remove the ; from the link, then copy and paste the COMPLETE link.

Blade Runner is a pretty good film and score as far as it goes. High Noon is a total and all out American classic.

The political aspects of the story is a story within itself. The McCarthy era witchhunts and blacklisting and all of that happy American horseshit.

And what's worse is the fact that the political climate in the United States today is pretty damn rotten all over again.
